I’ve been listening to the Sunday radio program for awhile and our daughter and I will be attending the seminar on 5/3. I’ve also spent time using www to research health care in CR. It seems to all be contingent on being a resident which doesn’t look to be a slam dunk. Of course it also appears that there is a great deal of medical tourism there because of the excellent quality of care affordable care. I’ll ask the resident question in a different page, but are there 3rd party long term health care insurance policies that you folks know of?

David W:
Actually I’m told, by a fellow agent who’s wife is an attorney in CR, that the process is quite simple.
1. You can deposit $60,000 in the National Bank. They put it in an Interest bearing account AND give it back to you at $1,000.00/mo. (plus the accrued interest, at the end of 5 years.
2. You can produce proof that you have a pension or Social Security payments of at Leat $600/mo. Or prove that you have at least $600/mo. income.
Or,
3. Live there for at least 4 months of the year.

Even without residency, Tourism Health Care is a pittance compared to US Health Care, even for emergencies.

Hayden,
Those are useful links that you provided and great information that both you and David started. Health care is one of the most important topics in the U.S. today. Costa Rica health care is fantastic and at a very affordable price. Even if you are a tourist and need medical care, it is super affordable and the treatment that you receive is virtually second to none.
